2008 Edition of the Joey Kelly Circus
|

The Joey Kelly Circus
Aerial Tripod Rigging |
Ladies and
Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Children of All Ages, may I introduce to you The 2008
Edition of The Joey Kelly Circus, with new rigging, new routines and a new
appearance. |
|
|
|
Centered within
their 30-foot ring that formerly belonged to The Emmett Kelly Jr. Circus, under
their tripod rigging, is their new stage. No more "mud shows" for the Joey
Kelly Circus! Instead, they feature a new 8 by 8 foot square, Black stage.
Connected on each side of the rear of the stage are two 10 inch by 10 inch by
eight-foot red columns with five white stars each that illuminate for evening
performances. Black Stage Curtains and a Red Canvas Joey Kelly Circus Banner of
Silver lettering and Silver stars stretched between the columns with
American Flags flying atop each column present a pleasing, impressive
appearance. |
|
|
|
Behind the
stage is a 10 X 10 foot EZ-Up walled canopy tent serving as their backstage
dressing area. To each side of the stage, on tripod stands, are Large Speakers
connected to a modest 500 watt Yamaha Sound System operated backstage. Four
sets of commercial, quartz lighting perched on 10' tripod stands complete the
new look Joey Kelly Circus. |
|
|
|
New this year,
is their patent pending, 20 foot tripod aerial rigging, the centerpiece of their
new appearance. Each pole has a wooden shoe (carpeted for indoors) and
connected collectively with twenty-foot steel cables. By design, the downward
weight, on adjustable legs, stabilizes the rigging in all three directions,
allowing performances on pavement, indoors, literally anywhere, without need of
driving stakes in the ground to secure equipment. |
|
|
|
Suspended
underneath the specially designed rigging, Bethany presents her aerial ballet,
attractively entwined within her fabric routine. She also delights the
audiences performing on Trapeze, new this year thanks to the trapeze bar
uniquely constructed atop the rigging, that Joey personally designed. |

|
|
Ring Mistress
Lindy opens this year's show with a new Comedy Bell Routine, her first solo
performance. Last year, Lindy got her clown shoes wet as Joey's capable
sidekick. More important, she impressed everyone with her quick wit and charm.
Lindy, as well as Bethany and Nathan, each were a "First of May" last year,
a first time performer. |
|
|
|
Nathan will
dazzle you with his charm, good looks and a new, improved Diabolo routine with
more difficult and amazing tricks that you will not want to miss. He shows
versatility having added Juggling Pins, Balls, Rings and the Rola Bola to his
performance this year. With him handling the skill toys and his sister floating
like an angel overhead, The Joey Kelly Circus is developing into a very
nice, little family circus that means to please and garner your attention and
favor. |
|
|
|
Penny, their
cute little baby lion, Okay, their Pomeranian trimmed to appear as if a Lion,
will be seated (hopefully) upon her Lion's Perch, in plain view, throughout the
entire performance. Her active participation is on a time permitting basis. |
|
|
|
Last, but
certainly not least is Joey, Emmett Kelly's grandson, the namesake of the
circus. Joey’s unique sense of humor and antics are creatively his own. You
will want to attend The Joey Kelly Circus for all the right reasons. As if the
new acts are not enough, you will not want to miss another first time
performance, Joey presenting an adaptation of one of his grandfather's
routines. For the first time, as a tribute to his favorite and beloved
clown, Joey will perform one of the greatest clown gags in circus history, his
grandfather's favorite routine, "The Spotlight." With that tribute, Joey hopes
to see his grandfather smiling at him from within the light shining down, from
above. |
